As Senior Architectural Designer, you'll lead the entire architectural design process, from conceptual sketches through full permit sets. You'll serve as a strategic partner to our CEO, collaborate with interior designers and project managers, and serve as the primary architectural contact for our clients. This role blends creative leadership with technical excellence, mentoring junior designers and refining our internal systems as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architectural design for all custom home projects, from concept to permit
- Host and guide client design meetings with confidence and creativity
- Ensure alignment between architectural vision, project budgets, and client expectations
- Produce high-quality plans in Chief Architect: floor plans, elevations, sections, structural/electrical layouts, and permit documents
- Oversee engineering coordination, code compliance, and design feasibility
- Serve as architectural lead during construction to support execution and change orders
- Collaborate with the Interior Designer and Project Manager to ensure design cohesion
- Maintain and refine architectural templates, SOPs, and design systems
- Mentor and review the work of junior architectural staff
- Continuously seek out innovations in design efficiency and buildability
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of residential architectural design experience (custom home experience strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Chief Architect is required
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both creative design and technical skill
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Skilled in interpreting building codes, local regulations, and structural integration
- Experience working within a design-build environment is a major plus
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using project management tools like Asana
- Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure
- Able to juggle multiple design projects and deadlines efficiently
